Preparations for your Treatment

What to do prior to massage

  • Avoid eating a full meal
  • Avoid alcohol consumption
  • Limit your water intake prior. (The last thing you want to do is interrupt your massage with a potty break)
  • Do take warm shower to help relax the mind and muscles.

What to expect during massage

  • Undress to your comfort level. You will be covered with sheets and undraped where appropriate.
  • Remember to breathe during your massage, tensing up and holding your breath will hinder the full relaxation and benefits of your massage.
  • Massage improves digestion which may cause flatulence; this is common and no need to feel embarrassed, but do please try to avoid high-fiber foods prior to massage.
  • Please speak up if you feel pain, massage is not meant to feel painful although certain areas need more attention your comfort is what is best.

  • Drink plenty of water. This will help in rehydration, building healthy muscle tissue and removal of metabolic wastes.
  • Consistency in your massages, it is best to receive a treatment at least once a month or every six weeks in order to receive the full benefits of a healthy lifestyle.
  • After a deep tissue massage icing your treated area is recommended. Light stretching or yoga is helpful.
